WGU Indiana Offers Transforming Education Grant to K-12 Teachers in Indiana

Nonprofit, online university recognizes educators with classroom grant ahead of

Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6

INDIANAPOLIS (April. 18, 2022) – To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week  and recognize educators for the dedication they have to teaching our young learners, WGU Indiana is offering a Transforming Education Grant, which gives inspirational teachers the opportunity to receive funds for their own classroom projects. The deadline to apply for this grant is May 6, 2022, and selected classroom projects will be announced during Teacher Appreciation Week scheduled for May 2-6.

K-12 teachers, administrators, coaches, paraprofessionals and counselors—anyone working with students at a public or private school and in need of funding to support their innovative projects— is encouraged to apply for the Transforming Education Grant. Applicants do not have to be a WGU student or alumni to be considered.

“Our K-12 teachers throughout Indiana go above and beyond each day to transform the lives of our students,” said Alison Bell, WGU Indiana Chancellor. “The Transforming Education Grant exists to support educators in the classroom, one of the key places that students feel supported and motivated to pursue their dreams. As a higher education institution, it’s our responsibility to equip our communities with the tools and resources they need to thrive.”

Many teachers find themselves paying out of pocket to build an impactful learning environment for their students. This continues to occur even as our nation faces a teacher shortage, especially in areas such as special education. As a university that understands the importance of accessible education, this grant from WGU is aimed at helping K-12 teachers throughout Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania to expand their curriculum, offer innovative classroom experiences and challenge students to reach their full potential.

In addition to the grant, WGU Indiana is delivering Teacher Appreciation Kits filled with goodies to a number of K-12 schools across the Hoosier state during Teacher Appreciation Week. WGU is also offering a WGU Loves Teachers Scholarship, with applications due June 30, 2022.

WGU offers a wide range of scholarship and grant opportunities to current and prospective students year round. For more information on additional scholarships and grants, visit wgu.edu/scholarships.
