Unlock the Power of your Genes

December 19, 2017 - New Developments
Dr. Stephen Herrmann, Profile’s Chief Healthy Living Expert, explains Profile Precise, the latest innovation from Profile by Sanford.

We’ve done the research. We’ve worked with some of the brightest minds at Sanford Health. After more than a year, we’re finally ready. The excitement begins on December 26th!

We’re #ProfileProud to announce the release of Profile Precise, a genetic test that combines the science of nutrigenetics and Profile’s best-in-class nutrition, activity and lifestyle coaching platform. It’s another example of how Profile will always work to strengthen what we believe is the industry’s most comprehensive, results-oriented approach to healthy lifestyle change.

We’ll get into some of the science behind Precise in a moment, but first let’s talk about this means for our members.

Personal Coaching Powered by Genetics

Profile’s philosophy is to take all the pieces that help people make sustainable lifestyle changes and package them together. Profile Precise fits right in.

The test itself measures how your genetic makeup influences your body’s ability to burn carbohydrates. What makes Precise unique is that it is the only genetic test in the wellness space that comes with a personal coach to help our members put results into action. Each member who purchases a kit will work with a coach to understand their Profile Precise C-Score and map their DNA to a nutrition plan tailor-made to help them lose weight and keep it off.

How Profile Precise Works

Backed by Real Science

We know that there are already companies offering wellness-related genetic tests. The problem is that those tests aren’t really that useful. The reports themselves are vague and there’s no support or follow-up to help test-takers actually use their results to better themselves. Major companies provide results that tell people to increase vegetable intake, exercise more and even avoid fast food. Do you really need a genetic test for that? When we see that, Profile sees yet another opportunity to protect our members from a gimmick that can send them down the wrong path.

When we started Profile, we made a commitment that all our research and development efforts must have two things in common. First, we only focus on products and services that help our members sustain lasting change. Second, everything we do must be backed by real science.

For our first entry into nutrigenetics, we worked alongside some of Sanford Health’s top experts in research and genetics to identify genetic markers that fit with Profile’s unique approach to nutrition. We’re starting by helping our members analyze genetic markers related to carbohydrate metabolism. That’s incredibly useful, especially when a Certified Profile Coach can help you build out your Precise Nutrition Plan based on that information.

Your Profile Plan Just Got More Personal

Certified Profile Coaches have always worked to build plans based on each member’s personal nutrition, activity and lifestyle goals. With Profile Precise, we can achieve a new level of personalization and utilize Precision Coaching to guide conversations throughout the member journey.

The concepts members work through with their coach - identifying triggers, reading nutrition labels, developing strategies to handle stress – all work to raise awareness and increase personal ownership. Providing members with a better understanding of their metabolism will have that same impact.

Personal coaching keeps things simple during the first phase of a member’s journey. As a member is approaching their weight loss goals, their long-term nutrition plan will be based on the genetics of their metabolism and we believe that helps people keep the weight off and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Everything Profile does was designed from the ground-up to be different. The same goes for Profile Precise. It’s a real game-changer for our members and something that we are incredibly excited to be able to offer.
