UKG celebrates 10 years in Indy by announcing plans for 200 new jobs

Company leans on its award-winning culture, focus on DEI&B to hire exceptional employees worldwide, including at its Indianapolis Technology Center of Excellence

INDIANAPOLIS (June 6, 2022) — UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, and workforce management software solutions for all people, is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its Indianapolis Technology Center of Excellence (ITC) by announcing aggressive growth in its downtown office.

UKG, which was born out of the 2020 merger between Kronos Incorporated and Ultimate Software, employs nearly 15,000 people worldwide, including more than 300 Hoosiers. Under the updated state agreements that match the company’s continued aggressive growth, UKG committed to creating a workforce of 485 in Indiana through 2027. More than 50% of the 200-plus planned new hires have already started at the company. UKG continues to hire across all aspects of its business — including several project managers and software implementation consultants in the ITC — with more than 1,000 open positions worldwide posted at ukg.com/careers. 

“We’ve been aggressively hiring since the merger — adding more than 2,000 U Krewers in 2021 alone — to support our tens of thousands of customers worldwide in digitizing their employee experience throughout the pandemic and beyond,” said Doug Ding, UKG’s Sr. Practice Director. “The talent from Indiana colleges and universities, as well as our partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), is critical to the success of UKG. I’m excited as we continue to grow here in Indiana.”

With dual headquarters in Lowell, Mass. and Weston, Florida, UKG currently occupies more than 42,000 square feet of space in the PNC Center building at 101 W Washington Street. The company has long-standing relationships with many local schools, including having hired hundreds of local tech talent from Purdue, Indiana University, Ball State, Butler, and Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) over the years. Ding expects more than 50% of its new hires to work primarily from the office.

UKG, which became the first company in history to make the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list in its first year as a merged entity, debuting at #6 in 2021, was also ranked #2 in the IT, Internet, and SaaS category in Forbes’ 2022 America’s Best Large Employers list. UKG also recently earned 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, and in May launched a historic partnership with the Women’s National Soccer League (NWSL) to make the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup the first-ever women’s professional soccer tournament to achieve pay equity with U.S. male peers.

Based on the company's continued growth and job creation plans — including UKG investing millions of dollars in their office space at PNC Center since being one of the first technology companies to open a regional office in Indianapolis, and now hiring up to 200 more employees in Indiana — the IEDC committed an investment in UKG of up to $2.3 million in the form of incentive-based tax credits and $200,000 in conditional training grants. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired and trained.
