INDIANAPOLIS (August 26, 2019) – The International Center is pleased to announce the three finalists for the Global Impression Award (GIA). Sherri Bucher, Andrea A. Richter-Garry, and George Srour have been recognized as the top three nominees for the second annual award, chosen from the competitive pool of 18 nominees.

Bucher is an associate research professor of pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Richter-Garry is the vice president for international engagement at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. And Srour is the co-founder and chief dreamer of Building Tomorrow. More information about each of the finalists can be found at www.internationalcenter.org/ICY/global-impression-award.

The winner will be announced on October 8th as part of the International Citizen of the Year Award Dinner honoring Michael Crowther. Each of the three GIA finalists will be in attendance.

The International Center created the Global Impression Award in 2018 to showcase and celebrate emerging leaders throughout the state whose work is creating a more global Indiana.

Julie K. Griffith, The Center’s board chair and executive vice president for strategy, partnerships, and outreach at the Indiana Innovation Institute, acknowledged the quality of all nominated. “We were so impressed with all of the nominees and selecting finalists from all of the nominations was a difficult task! Indiana is lucky to be home to such strong leaders that impact our global community.”

The Center was inspired to create the GIA in response to the growing number of emerging leaders with work that has a considerable impact on a vision for a vibrant, global Indiana. Martin Baier, President and CEO of The International Center, recognizes the importance of bringing this generation of leaders into the spotlight. “The Center’s International Citizen of the Year Award has honored decades of leaders. Now, our Global Impression Award allows us to highlight emerging leaders who are making a big impact as well.”
