On February 4, STEM Premier, one of the nation’s largest online platforms for connecting talent with career guidance and opportunities, changed their name to Tallo. “As we grow to help hundreds of thousands of young, talented users showcase their skills and get discovered by colleges and companies, we realized it was time for a change,” said Casey Welch, president and CEO of Tallo. “Our users have such a wide spectrum of skills, passions, and interests in STEM fields and beyond. Tallo, from ‘Talent + Opportunity,’ is a name that better reflects our mission to connect everyone with opportunities, everywhere.”
Tallo has partnered with more than 300 companies and colleges, including Boeing, Blackbaud, Cummins, and Walmart to improve workforce diversity, proactively engage the country’s talent pipeline, foster growing apprenticeship programs, and engage with local communities. Partnerships like these are part of a comprehensive career readiness effort to provide hands-on learning experiences for students, match top talent with schools and employers, and provide students with the professional skills they need to succeed in the 21st century workforce.
When students and professionals (age 13 and older) create their free accounts on Tallo, they can showcase their talents through digital profiles, find resources and scholarships, receive guidance and coaching, and connect with prospective colleges, scholarships, and employers. Tallo gives young people a way to showcase themselves to the educational and professional organizations who are looking for them. Finding the right path can be overwhelming, and Tallo seeks to make it easier. Educational institutions on Tallo can recruit students with the interests and abilities that make them good candidates to succeed in their programs. Similarly, employers can recruit qualified talent directly via internal messaging, building a sustainable talent pipeline.
In 2018, Tallo connected students from more than 2,000 colleges and nearly 20,000 high schools in all 50 states with potential career pathways, jobs and apprenticeships, and scholarship opportunities. More than 410,000 students are active on the site, double the number from 2017.
