(March 18, 2019) — Indianapolis Public Schools is pleased to announce that Dennis Tackitt is the district’s new Chief of Transformation. Tackitt will provide the vision, leadership and management necessary to ensure IPS is continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the services that support academics. In this newly created position, Tackitt is responsible for implementing strategic transformation projects for areas including public information, security, financial operations and accounting, transportation, facilities, food service and information technology. This is part of a three-year partnership with the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce to balance the district’s budget.

“The addition of this position is essential as we work to be more efficient in our spending of taxpayer resources,” said IPS Interim Superintendent Aleesia Johnson. “We appreciate the Chamber allocating additional resources so we can devote a specific team member to such targeted thinking.”

Tackitt is no stranger to the financial management of school districts. He previously served for 20 years as the Chief Financial Officer of the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township where he was responsible for finance, facilities, transportation and child nutrition. He recently served as a senior consultant with Policy Analytics, LLC. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Indiana University – Indianapolis and his Master of Business Administration from Butler University. Tackitt is married with two adult children and four grandchildren.

He started this new position Monday, March 11.
