INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, June 4, 2019—Founded in 1999, Indianapolis-based arcDESIGN’s award-winning architecture and design projects stem from its people-focused culture and use of advanced design technologies. “We look at everything—technology, design, function—through the lens of positive collaboration,” said arcDESIGN partner Alonso Arambula. “Our open studio culture prioritizes client relationships and encourages diversity of thought.” With particular expertise in healthcare, higher education, corporate, and historic renovation projects, arcDESIGN creates forward-thinking, transformational spaces.

High-Impact Projects Across Indiana

From specialized research laboratories to adapting historic campus buildings for modern use, clients trust arcDESIGN with their most challenging, complex projects.

Recent noteworthy projects include the Schneck Professional Building, which involved a ground-up design for a modern medical facility attached to an existing hospital. “The impact of community-driven spaces on individual patient care is the future of healthcare architecture,” said arcDESIGN partner Brian Mader, who provided direct leadership on the project.

The firm also redesigned Indiana State University’s Fine Arts Building. A complex historic adaptation, the project required reimagining original materials and aesthetics into an updated space designed to be functional far into the future. “We view these projects from a 50 to 100-year timeframe,” arcDESIGN founding partner Andy Hine said, “From high-performance, high-durability materials to the flexible way we approach each space, we’re creating facilities that deliver on the university’s long-term investment.”

Currently, arcDESIGN’s interior and historic renovation team is hard at work on plans for the new Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library to be located in a turn of the century building on historic Indiana Avenue. “Our team carefully considered aspects of Vonnegut’s work in deciding on an aesthetic direction,” partner Mike Engledow said. “We’re excited to see this space serve as an educational and cultural space not only for the city of Indianapolis, which was so important to Vonnegut, but also for visitors from around the world.”

Commitment to Future Growth

Looking forward, arcDESIGN anticipates growing strategically to better serve clients in Indianapolis and throughout the Midwest. “We’re deeply committed to smart growth,” Hine said. “We challenge our team to maintain the dynamic atmosphere that attracts great people and brings our clients outstanding results.” The firm celebrates its first 20 years on June 8, 2019.
