Ice Miller Welcomes Patent Agent Stephen Farris

Ice Miller LLP is pleased to welcome Stephen Farris, a patent agent in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Group.

Before joining Ice Miller, Stephen worked as a patent agent at two previous law firms where he specialized in drafting and prosecuting patent applications primarily in the electrical and mechanical arts.

Stephen, before transitioning to the role of patent agent, worked at General Motors as an engineer. Over the course of 17 years, Stephen acted as a product development team lead engineer, a design release engineer and a design validation engineer in the Hybrid Power Electronics Hardware Release Center, developing power electronics for hybrid electric vehicles.

“We’re very excited for Stephen to join the Firm,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner at Ice Miller. “Stephen’s years of experience as an engineer, even patenting some of his own inventions, will be instrumental to our Intellectual Property team.”

During his time at General Motors, Stephen received three U.S. Patents as an inventor based on his research and development in fuel cell technology. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Ellis University with a concentration in management of technology and a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University with a concentration in electrical engineering technology.
