Indianapolis-based employee benefits brokerage firm First Person has been acquired by New York City-based NFP, the fifth-largest benefits broker in the world based on revenue. The financial terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
NFP has hired all 53 First Person employees, who will continue to serve clients under the NFP name.
NFP is a leading insurance broker and consultant providing specialized property and casualty, corporate benefits, retirement and individual solutions through its licensed subsidiaries and affiliates. NFP enables client success through the expertise of over 5,800 global employees, investments in innovative technologies, and enduring relationships with highly rated insurers, vendors and financial institutions.
First Person Founder and CEO Bryan Brenner said, “We’ve been in discussions with NFP for years, and I’m thrilled the timing is finally right with respect to the state of the market, NFP’s growth and First Person’s trajectory. Joining a worldwide leader with NFP’s reputation creates an immediate opportunity to offer new products, and access global capabilities, insights and solutions for our clients, while maintaining the depth of expertise and relationships First Person clients have come to know.”
Brenner, who launched First Person at age 24, will continue to serve clients as an NFP managing director. Nine-year First Person veteran Mark Minner will serve as NFP senior vice president.
First Person specializes in group benefits with additional capabilities in compensation, compliance, human resources, analytics, well-being, health strategy consulting and employee communications. Add to that NFP’s property and casualty, corporate benefits, retirement and individual solutions, and the team will serve business leaders with integrated solutions all in one place.
First Person customers include Allied Solutions, the City of Westfield, Community Health Network, Emplify and Lessonly.
Mike Schneider, president of NFP’s central region, said, “This is a great day at NFP! We’ve been actively pursuing this acquisition for several years because together we will change the landscape of insurance and benefits in Indiana. There is no other firm that combines the strength of NFP’s national specialty practices with the growth mindset of First Person.”
