Browning wins ISA 2021 “General Contractor of the Year” and the “Excellence in Ethics” Awards

Browning is honored to have received the 2021 “Excellence in Ethics” award and “General Contractor of the Year – Over $100 Million in Revenue” awards as voted on by the members of the Indiana Subcontractors Association.

“These awards are particularly meaningful to Browning because the subcontractors voted based on our performance in several areas that are important to our relationship with the subcontracting community,” noted Scott Hirschman, president of construction at Browning.

The judging criteria for GC of the Year included:

  • Field Staff Strength
  • Payment History
  • Safety
  • Project Management
  • Project Scheduling
  • Contract Terms
  • Ethics

“To the subcontractors of the ISA, thank you for your vote of confidence and we look forward to continuing our strong relationships and building new relationships.  For any subcontractors reading this that we haven’t previously met, we encourage you to get prequalified and engaged,” continued Hirschman.

“When we say we want to be a trusted partner, it isn’t just lip service.  The judging criteria for the ‘Excellence in Ethics’ award aligns very closely with our core values (Be Browning: Be Excellent, Empowered, Respectful, Admirable, Safe) and are at the heart of how we do business and the relationships we build.”

  • Personnel show a track record of consistent fairness in decisions.
  • Personnel are empowered to make decisions and management will support these results.
  • Promotes the meaningful advancement of MBE/WBE/DBE firms in the construction industry.
  • Management supports community activities and actively participates in industry associations.

Browning has worked closely with the Indianapolis Office of Minority and Women Business Development (OMWBD) on outreach efforts to get companies certified, build new subcontractor relationships, and to exceed XBE participation goals.  Browning also works to support communities around job sites by partnering with local organizations, engaging residents throughout a project, and supporting programs that get students and neighbors interested and employed in construction careers.
