Attorney Geeta Shah Joins Ice Miller

Ice Miller LLP is pleased to welcome Geeta Shah, of counsel in the Firm’s Labor, Employment and Immigration Practice. She focuses her practice on immigration and counseling her clients through the acquisition of a variety of visas.

Before joining Ice Miller, Geeta was an associate at a New York-based law firm in Chicago specializing in immigration law. She reviewed a wide variety of visa petitions, applications and requests and supported her clients through Adjustment of Status interviews at various U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services offices regionally. Geeta also handled pro bono Asylum and Deferred Action for Children Arrivals (DACA) cases.

“Geeta is extremely well-versed in the intricacies of immigration law; her experience in aspects of the work visa process is expansive,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner for Ice Miller. “She will be a great resource to our clients, and we’re excited to have her on our team.”

Previously, Geeta was a senior immigration attorney at Global Immigration Associates, formerly VISANOW. In this role, she prepared and responded to requests for evidence, requests for information, PERM audits, motions to reopen/reconsider, appeals and intents to revoke/deny notices for both employment and family-based immigration clients.

She has also acted as an independent contractor, drafting I-601 waiver briefs, appellate briefs for BIA, U-Visa briefs and pre-hearing statements for cancellation of removal.  In addition, Geeta researched eligibility of permanent residency of clients in light of three-year, ten-year and permanent bar.

Geeta earned her juris doctor in 2011 from DePaul University College of Law where she received a certificate in International and Comparative Law.
