FISHERS, IN., Mar. 25, 2020 – ITOWN Church has announced that it has created a COVID-19 Rapid Response plan to provide food for service-industry families who have been impacted by cancelled events and closed restaurants. In addition to food, ITOWN’s leadership team is providing mental, emotional and spiritual support through text, phone call, and Zoom video calls. They are also working with the mayor’s office, Eskenazi Hospital, Midwest Food Bank, IPS Schools, and the Marion County Health Department, to continue to identify the most pressing needs in the greater Indianapolis area.
Individuals who wish to receive assistance may utilize the drive-thru distribution this Friday, March 27th from 2-4pm at JW Marriott.
While many churches in the community have closed their doors during this time, based on government recommendations, ITOWN Church remains open to serve the needs of their community including physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Lead pastor Dave Sumrall said in a video posted on the church’s social media, “in times of crisis, hospitals don’t close, they expand their coverage of care. ITOWN has never been a club for Christians, we are a hospital for hurting people. This is the church’s finest hour, and ITOWN will rise to the challenge of meeting the needs of our community.”
