The 44th Monumental Awards celebrates Indy Region’s-built environment
Ind. (July 27, 2021)—The Indy Chamber is accepting submissions for the 2021 Monumental Awards, recognizing excellence in landscape architecture, interior design, real estate development, architecture, engineering, construction, neighborhood revitalization, reuse, and public art. This year marks the 44th Monumental Awards, highlighting the most noteworthy, annual additions to the region’s built environment.
Monumental Awards continue to spotlight businesses and individuals who make the quality of place possible by planning, designing, and building appealing and attractive places to live, work, and play.
Finalists will be recognized within the following nine categories; landscape architecture, interior design, real estate development, architecture, engineering, construction, neighborhood revitalization, reuse, and public art. The awards ceremony will take place Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Indy’s most iconic outdoor theatre, the Tibbs Drive-In.
“Monumental Awards celebrate excellence in the business community throughout the Indy Region,” said Monumental Awards Chairman and Managing Director & Market Manager at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, James Macdonald. “Indy is a community that deliberately prioritizes design forward thinking and innovation in all regional planning and development, and the Monumental Awards serve to recognize individuals going above and beyond in their field.”
Projects completed between June 1, 2018, and June 1, 2021, in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan, and Shelby counties are eligible for submission. Projects may include both public and private sector facilities. Submissions close Friday, Aug. 6.
“Working with the Indy Chamber to showcase the vision and talents of Indy’s design, engineering, and construction industries has allowed the Monumental Awards to highlight individuals dedicating their time and creativity to building long-lasting development for the community,” said Lynn Busby, Director Of Community Outreach at Indiana Careers in Construction Association. “The historical drive-in of the Tibbs Theater is the perfect setting to highlight those in the Indy community doing so much to better the environment around them.”
Submissions will be evaluated by expert committees using criteria developed by several industry and professional organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, the International Interior Design Association, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Indiana Construction Roundtable, the Indiana State Museum, the Urban Land Institute, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Indiana, and Local Initiatives Support Corporation.
Submission forms and complete guidelines, including category description and judging criteria are available here. Tickets for the 2021 Monumental Awards will be available for purchase in early August. For more information, please visit indychamber.com.
