New IU Health hospital development brings significant business opportunities for veteran, women, and minority-owned businesses and local companies under the supplier diversity program.
Ind. (July 30, 2021)—IU Health is planning a transformative new hospital in downtown Indianapolis. The new hospital, estimated to cost $1.6 billion aims to award 25 percent participation in design and construction projects to certified veteran, women, and minority-owned businesses and achieve at least 50 percent local business participation.
Located just south of the existing IU Health Methodist Hospital campus, the expanded footprint will extend from 16th Street to 12th Street and from Capitol Avenue west to I-65. The core of the campus is a new hospital that will be constructed over the next six years and designed to offer pre-eminent care for Indiana over the next half-century or beyond.
“This project illustrates a transformative time for the city of Indianapolis as it relates to accessing quality care,” said Jim Mladucky, Vice President, Design and Construction, IU Health. “We know we’re better working together, which is why IU Health is building towards a more inclusive environment that supports the local landscape.”
The Indy Chamber’s Hispanic Business Council is committed to support IU Health and promote this significant business opportunity for minority-owned businesses and local companies under IU Health’s supplier diversity program.
“This is more than just a hospital,” said Juan González, Hispanic Business Council Chairman & President of KeyBank Central Indiana. “This project represents a future where small business owners have an equal seat at the table of groundbreaking work that impacts the entire region.”
The Supplier Diversity component reflects IU Health’s commitment to the Indy Region by creating a level playing field for diverse business owners while promoting good financial stewardship through using a wider pool of qualified, cost-competitive suppliers for goods and services.
