INDY ACCOMPLICESHIP CORPORATE PLEDGE!

A Call for One Hundred Corporations to Pivot from Allies to Accomplices for Good

Free Mini-Workshop & Info Sessions Available

Indianapolis, IN, Aug 13, 2020 – A plan of action will officially launch in late September to help guide companies through their accompliceship journey. You made a statement to stand in solidarity with the Black community – now what? Indianapolis corporations have an opportunity to join a corporate pledge and take actionable next steps to bring equitable experiences to central Indiana.

Indy Accompliceship is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) and diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) researched-based plan led by Black Onyx Management consultants and supported by key community partners. It is comprised of a four-part pledge focused on measuring and improving equitable outcomes in the workplace, workforce, marketplace, and community.

Key measures of success include decreasing the Black/White pay gap for similar roles, increasing the percentage of Black people in leadership roles and serving on Corporate boards, increasing the percentage and dollars spent with Black prime vendors and contractors, and increasing the dollars and number of skills-based hours spent supporting Black organizations, just to name a few.

A free mini-workshop on moving from corporate ally to an accomplice and informational session about Indy Accompliceship will be available via Zoom over the next few weeks. Email csrconsultant@indyaccopliceship.com to sign up for a session today.

Why Pledge? Being an ally is good. Being an accomplice is better. To address systemic racism and make real, equitable changes in our city we need more accomplices. As some learn this new term, we are defining allies = make statements; accomplices = take action. This plan will take a positive, yet firm approach to push companies out of their comfort zone while striving for more accountability in these four key areas. Your first act as an accomplice for good is to take the pledge. One hundred companies executing simultaneously throughout this pledge is a powerful force that will hold businesses accountable and help us reach our shared objectives.

“As a certified diversity executive, recognized expert in corporate giving, and having led large community and diversity initiatives in Indianapolis, BOM, Inc. is uniquely positioned to launch and execute on this first of its kind program,” Marshawn Wolley, President and CEO of Black Onyx Management, Inc.

Black Onyx Management is accepting one hundred new clients to take the Indy Accompliceship pledge. Corporations of all sizes and industries are encouraged to sign up as early adopters by Sept. 4, 2020. The pledge will officially kick off in late September on Indy Accompliceship Day in collaboration with the president of the city-county council Vop Osili as he signs a proclamation for this vital commitment.

Key community partners supporting this effort include the Indy Black Chamber of Commerce, The Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council, Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper, Indianapolis Urban League, IBE, Edna Martin Christian Center, and Martindale Brightwood CDC. Additional community partners and diversity consultants are also being sought out to further support this effort. Also, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, Downtown Indy, Indy Chamber, LISC, and Visit Indy are early supporters of this plan.

“Indy Accompliceship is more than a pledge – it is a performance-driven roadmap for the business community that will lead to better outcomes for our entire city,” Sherry Seiwert, President of Indianapolis Downtown Inc.

Companies that have already signed up as accomplices include Downtown Indy, Mortenson Kim Raidious, Inc. (MKR), Indy Sports Corporation, Engaging Solutions and Community Assets Inc.
