Global Language Training Company Growing in Indy

Indy Chamber News Archives

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 22, 2013) - Language Training Center (LTC), a full service language training provider, announced plans today to expand its operations here, creating up to 26 new jobs by 2017.

The Indianapolis-headquartered company, which also has an office in Shanghai, China, will invest $1.5 million to renovate and expand its existing facility by 3,500 square feet. Providing language training, translation, interpreting, cross cultural training and language assessment services, the expansion will allow the company to support new clients and expand its services.

"The expansion of LTC shows that Indy's international business needs are growing right along with it," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. "This is good news for the future of our city as international companies looking to expand into the U.S. market see us as an ideal location due to our strong business climate."

LTC has already begun hiring for the new positions and will continue to hire American Sign Language interpreting specialists, linguists, office managers and customer service representatives throughout the year. Interested applicants can apply at www.languagetrainingcenter.com.

"LTC is excited to continue growing our footprint in Indiana," said Martin George, owner and chief executive officer of LTC. "LTC provided language services in more than 120 languages in Indiana last year alone. Utilizing a diverse workforce and providing language services from Indiana has proven to be an effective model that we look forward to continuing for years to come."

Established in 1993, LTC serves companies' globalization needs through its training, translation and interpreting services, which are offered in more than 120 languages. The company serves local school districts, hospitals, courts, fire departments and businesses across Indiana and around the globe, including Eli Lilly and Company, Roche Diagnostics, National Collegiate Athletic Association, IndyCar and World Wrestling Entertainment. LTC was named as a 2011 Indiana Company to Watch and has been recognized on the Inc. 5000 list for the past two years.

"As we continue to grow Indy's international relationships through trade missions and special projects, seeing growth in support services like the Language Training Center shows that our hard work is paying off," said Brian Gildea, Vice President and Executive Director of Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber. "As international relationships become increasingly more important for Indy, this sort of growth shows companies across the nation that global business is thriving in Indianapolis leading to more opportunities for job growth."

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Language Training Center up to $165,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $60,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Indianapolis supports the project at the request of Develop Indy.

"With Indiana's top-notch business environment, international companies are growing rapidly here in Indiana," said Eric Doden, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "That growth and the resulting diversity in the state have increased demand for language training services provided by companies like LTC. With the state's low taxes, expanding infrastructure and skilled workforce, more and more international companies are calling Indiana home."

Indiana is home to more than 700 international companies, including Rolls-Royce, Bosch, Evonik, ArcelorMittal, Siemens, Roche Diagnostics and Nestle. In 2012, the Hoosier State's exports totaled $34.4 billion, setting a record high for the state.
