Helping Veterans And Families (HVAF) helps homeless veterans return to self-sufficiency and engages at-risk veterans and their families to prevent them from becoming homeless by providing supportive housing, case management, food, hygiene and clothing, as well as other essential services.
In 2020, HVAF provided 33,621 services to 1,453. HVAF is on track to serve even more veterans in 2021.
Volunteers can help sort food, clothing and hygiene donations that HVAF receives. Once the items are sorted, the volunteers restock the pantries for distribution to our veterans. This opportunity is available Monday-Friday anytime between 8am-5pm. Volunteers can help during pantry hours - where veterans can come pick out the basic needs items they need (food, hygiene, and clothing), and the volunteers help them shop for these items. This opportunity is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-3pm. All of these opportunities can be done by an individual or a small group!
