Big Green is building a national school food culture that promotes youth wellness. We’re connecting kids to real food through a network of Learning Gardens and food literacy programs.
Big Green Learning Gardens are uniquely designed to be welcoming and attractive outdoor classrooms. Dynamic and easy to teach in, the Learning Garden is place to learn about plants, how they grow and what they need, along with most other subjects – math, language, science, art, etc. They are also a place for students to learn about life and engage in positive and delicious experiences with real food, grown by and for them. Learning Gardens are where relationships can root, grow, and blossom as students and teachers explore together. Big Green is currently awarding eligible schools in IPS, Perry, Warren, and Wayne Townships. Big Green provides schools with a variety of training and support programming to ensure the school community has the skills needed to make their Learning Garden a success, as imagined by each individual school.
