Accelerate Place

The Indy region cannot attempt to compete on cost alone and expect to thrive in today’s economy; it must also compete on quality—quality of place, quality of workforce, and quality of business climate. Though we have strengths in aspects of our transportation infrastructure and geographic location, we find ourselves at a competitive disadvantage with respect to transit and broadband access, two essential forms of infrastructure today. And while our downtowns have transformed immensely, leaders in the region are concerned that we have failed to adequately activate certain assets from innovation districts to our riverfront, assets that have matured in regions where we compete with jobs and talent.

Strategic Objectives

  • Access to jobs and education through public transit and broadband connectivity.
  • Visionary, catalytic projects that can transform our region and its image.
  • Development of our region’s innovation districts and employment centers.
  • Preparation of ready-to-go sites and buildings that help us win quality jobs.
  • The adoption of solutions and policies that support neighborhood revitalization.

Key Recommendation

The Accelerate Indy Collaboratory is a proposed new forum that can convene regional partners to advance transformational solutions to regional challenges and/or potentially catalytic investments.
