Victory: An Election Recap

Indy Chamber News Archives

By now, you may have heard that all three of the Indy Chamber endorsed candidates for the IPS Board of Commissioners - Mary Ann Sullivan (At-Large), Kelly Bentley (District 3) and LaNier Echols (District 5) - won their respective races by wide margins. These results clearly show the citizens of Indianapolis want more for the families served by our largest public school system.

While we celebrate these victories, we are mindful that the work of improving education for 30,000 Indianapolis children has just begun. We look forward to working with the board to support the work of Dr. Ferebee, and to implement the Indy Chamber's recommendations to redirect millions of dollars to the classroom.

Additionally, all 25 of our endorsed regional legislative candidates won re-election. The Indiana General Assembly has excelled at creating an environment of stable taxation and limited regulation. We will continue to advocate for policies leading to increased economic opportunity and quality of life for the Indianapolis region.

At the direction of members like you, the Indy Chamber strives to be an organization of great impact in both our region and state, and our efforts in this election cycle would not have been possible without your support. We look forward to more big wins in the year to come.

If you would like to receive additional information about our advocacy activities, please contact Mark Fisher, vice president of government relations, at 317.464.2291 or [email protected]. More information on the Business Advocacy Committee can be found at indychamber.com.

Sincerely,

Michael Huber
President and CEO, Indy Chamber
