Giving a Lift

After running into a few obstacles on the road to obtaining proper permits, the duo turned to the Indy Chamber’s Indianapolis Business Acceleration Team to help them through the process.

“During our build-out phase we were hitting some bumps along the way and the Chamber was extremely helpful in answering questions on permitting and zoning,” said Herren, Operations Manager for Lift. “There were several times when things went beyond our control and they were able to step in and help us get to the bottom of things.”

The Team’s Regulatory and Permitting Ombudsman provides services that help local businesses navigate the regulatory and permitting processes. Working in close relationship with the City of Indianapolis’ Department of Code Enforcement and others, the ombudsman coordinates with businesses to identify and tackle issues before they escalate into larger problems.

Herren, who learned of the ombudsman services through her Mayor’s Neighborhood Liaison, said she and the team at Lift have been very happy with the service they received and would definitely turn to the Indy Chamber in the future.

In addition to helping educate business owners on permitting processes, the Regulatory and Permitting Ombudsman provides valuable benefits to the customer including reduced waiting periods for licensing and permitting, one-on-one consulting, advocating for businesses at the local and state permitting levels.

When Tasha Blackman and Nicci Herren, owners of Lift, Therapeutic Massage were opening their new Fletcher Place business last Fall, they learned quickly just how beneficial a relationship with the Indy Chamber can be.
