Indy Chamber / Be Active / Advocacy / Business Advocacy Committee

Business Advocacy Committee

The Business Advocacy Committee is a non-partisan, independent political action committee that supports candidates and elected officials who endorse limited government, free enterprise and a pro-business, pro-economic growth environment. This committee is actively involved in fundraising to support pro-business candidates and business-friendly issues.

Candidate Selection Process

The Indy Chamber's BAC takes a proactive approach to political involvement by implementing a formal candidate selection process including:

  • The Indy Chamber's advocacy team compiles a list after the candidate filing deadlines
  • The Indy Chamber interviews candidates prior to endorsement
  • Endorsements are determined based on alignment with the Indy Chamber’s legislative agenda
  • If there is no history of Business Advocacy support, or a candidate’s alignment with Indy Chamber policy is in question, a candidate interview is recommended
  • After reviewing candidates, the BAC board convenes to discuss and approve the candidate endorsements
